Outcome: A panel discussion was arranged at the Global Environment Facility (GEF) assembly. The event also saw the launch of an interim report on Small and Medium Enterprises, created under the SUPRABHA Technical Assistance (TA) program. The discussion was conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Forest (GEF Coordinator) Govt of India in partnership with World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation and Ernst and Young. The event also saw participation by several senior officials from EESL, GEF, Vietnamese government, Development Bank of South Africa and officials from several countries.
The discussion also saw participation from the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEf) and India country coordinator for GEF, Mr. Nikunja Sundaray, who appreciated the achievement of massive rooftop targets at a rapid pace by the State Bank of India (SBI). Mr. Ramling, the Chief General Manager of SBI, further updated the audience about the approval of loans for over 600 MW of projects worth $315 million and launched the interim report on “Identification of barriers for rooftop solar uptake in MSMEs and development of financing framework for MSMEs,” based on a key TA project.
